
Saginaw Shut out North Bay 3-0 On The Road

The Saginaw Spirit travelled to the North Bay Memorial Gardens to face off against the North Bay Battalion for the second time this season. The Spirit shutout the Battalion with a 3-0 victory over North Bay, thanks to the outstanding performances of Evan Cormier and Dylan Sadowy.
The Saginaw Spirit and North Bay Battalion saw a deadlocked first period with both teams unable to find the back of the net. The Battalion outshot the Spirit during the first 20 minutes of play, putting 18 shots on Saginaw's starting goaltender Evan Cormier. Saginaw recorded 7 shots on North Bay's goaltender Jake Smith.
Dylan Sadowy turned in a solid second period for the Spirit, tallying two goals and creating a 2-0 lead over North Bay. Sadowy netted an unassisted shorthanded goal at 4:29 of the second, opening up the game's scoring after a deadlocked first period. The Spirit made it a 2-0 game at the 19:54 mark after Sadowy ripped the puck into the net from inside the circle and recorded his 30th goal of the season. Shots on goal in the second period read North Bay 12, Saginaw 4.
The Saginaw Spirit scored an empty netted goal late in the third period off the stick of Connor Brown. Brown's 17th goal of the season was assisted by Blake Clarke and came at the 18:42 mark of the third period. The Spirit held off the Battalion and left the arena with a 3-0-shutout win over North Bay with final shots on goal reading North Bay 46, Saginaw 18.
The Spirit will continue their road endeavors on the evening of Friday, January 23rd at the Sudbury Arena where Saginaw will take the ice against the Sudbury Wolves. Puck is scheduled to drop at 7:30 p.m. The game can be heard on FM Talk and Sports WSGW 100.5.
