Saginaw has Haskins

The Spirit welcome Tyler Haskins to Saginaw after the completion of a trade with the Toronto St. Michael's Majors. Toronto gets Spirit Dustin Ekelman, as well as a conditional 2007 OHL Priority Selection 14th round pick and a 2008 Priority Selection 15th round pick. The Spirit also have the option to trade first round Import Draft picks with Toronto in 2007.

"We wish Dustin Ekelman the best of luck in his career in the OHL and beyond", stated Spirit General Manager and Head Coach Bob Mancini, "We would also like to welcome Tyler Haskins to the Saginaw Spirit".

The 6.1 ft, 185 lb center from Madison, Ohio comes to Saginaw in his 5th year in the league. Haskins was drafted by the Guelph Storm in 2002, and was traded to Toronto during the 2003-2004 season.

Haskins ended the 2005-2006 season with 24 goals and 51 assists in 56 regular season games. During the 2006 OHL playoffs, he notched 1 goal and 4 assists in 4 games. Haskins was also selected to play in the 2006 OHL All Star Game for the Eastern Conference.

Haskins was a 2005 NHL Entry Draft 5th round pick of the Detroit Red Wings and comes to the Spirit as a free agent.
