Toronto-The Ontario Hockey League today announced that five OHL teams have been approved to make formal bid presentations to host the 2008 MasterCard Memorial Cup.

It is the opinion of the Memorial Cup site selection committee that five out of the six teams that applied to host the 2008 MasterCard Memorial Cup, have satisfactorily met all of the necessary criteria in order to be provided with an opportunity to make a formal bid presentation. The teams that will be presenting to the Memorial Cup site selection committee are the Kitchener Rangers, London Knights, Oshawa Generals, Saginaw Spirit and Sarnia Sting.

The host site selection committee is comprised of Paul Beeston, former CEO of major League Baseball, Frank Bonello, former Director of Central Scouting for the National Hockey League, Brian O'Neill, Consultant for the National Hockey League and Jim Gregory, Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations for the National Hockey League.

For Beeston, Bonello, and O'Neil this will mark the fifth time that they have been members of the site selection committee for the Memorial Cup, previously selecting Peterborough (1996), Ottawa (1999), Guelph (2002) and London (2005).

The successful host centre will be announced during the week of May 7, 2007 and its delegates will travel to Vancouver, BC for a site visit during the upcoming 2007 MasterCard Memorial Cup.
