Daniels Named OHL Goaltender of the Month

(Saginaw, MI) The Ontario Hockey League announced today that Spirit goaltender Ryan Daniels has been named the OHL Goaltender of the Month for February 2007. During the month of February, Daniels posted a record of 8-2-0-1, as well as a 1.87 goals against average and .935 save percentage. He also posted his first two career shutouts during the month, on February 3rd against the Erie Otters and February 10th against the Belleville Bulls.

"I would like to extend my congratulations to Ryan and his teammates for exhibiting the type of defensive commitment needed for a goaltender to be recognized in this manner," stated Spirit General Manager and Head Coach Bob Mancini. "This is the level of goaltending that we know Ryan is capable of playing."

Daniels is currently ranked 6th in the league for goals against average (2.94), is tied for 8th in save percentage (0.908) and is 4th place in total wins (34).

A native of Pickering Ontario, Daniels was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the fifth round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. This is Daniels second goaltender of the month honor this season and third of his career. He was bestowed with that title for October 2005 and October 2006.
