Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI - Wings Stadium, which is also home to "The Annex" and "The Cube," announces that their Safety Committee will run a safety drill at the conclusion of the Kalamazoo Wings preseason game on Wednesday, October 4th.
Wings Stadium is requesting the cooperation from all fans during this drill. Fans that participate in the safety exercise will receive a coupon for a FREE large Pepsi, which they can redeem at another Wings Stadium event or K-Wings game.
Wings Stadium's Safety Committee was created to ensure the facility is as secure as possible for both its patrons and employees. The Safety Committee is continuously seeking proactive measures to assure a positive experience for all visitors and to make certain the facility is up to date on all safety standards and practices.
"Our goal is to give our guests an ultimate experience every single visit and that includes making sure that our facility is as safe as possible," said Vice President/General Manager Paul L. Pickard. "Our Safety Committee takes a lot of time and effort to make sure that our patron's safety is not only considered, but is preserved."
While the Safety Committee will not release the exact type of procedure they will conduct, they have divulged that the exercise will involve the evacuation of Wings Stadium.
This will be the first year the Safety Committee will hold their employee training module during an actual Wings Stadium or K-Wings event. In past years, the Safety Committee has completed their exercise during the Wings Stadium Complex's annual staff training.
Stadium Management Company owns both the Wings Stadium Complex and the Kalamazoo Wings hockey team. Wings Stadium Complex is comprised of three buildings; Wings Stadium seats more than 5,100 fans for K-Wings home games and more than 8,000 people for concerts and other stage events. The Annex seats 1,367 for ice events and 2,850 for non-ice events such as car, boat, and trade shows. The Cube is the newer of the three facilities, that plays host to both ice and non-ice events. All three buildings are available for rental and feature numerous catering and meeting opportunities.
