Mallards Announce On-Ice Staff

Moline, IL-The Quad City Mallards today announced that Equipment Manager Jason Rivera has returned to the team for the 2006-07 season. The team also announced that Avi Walker will serve as Athletic Trainer for the upcoming season. The Mallards 2006 Training Camp opens on Monday at 9 a.m. at The Quad City Sports Center.

Rivera returns to a second season after coming to the Quad Cities in 2005. He is responsible for ordering, maintaining and repairing players' hockey equipment including jerseys and sticks. Before coming to the Quad Cities, Rivera spent two seasons as the Equipment Manager for the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL.

Walker comes to the Quad Cities after spending three years at the University of Manitoba. He served as the Head Athletic Therapist and was responsible for providing healthcare for the men's ice hockey team. His duties with the Mallards include day-to-day healthcare for players, rehabilitation of injured players and emergency injury management.

The 2006 Mallards training camp opens on Monday, October 2nd at the Quad City Sports Center. Practice will begin at 9 a.m. at the Sports Center from Monday through Thursday of next week. On Friday, the team will hold a pre-game skate before heading to Rockford for their exhibition opener vs. the IceHogs.

On Saturday, October 7th, the team will be back at the Quad City Sports Center for their home pre-season game vs. the Chicago Hounds. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and complimentary tickets (one per season ticket) are available now at The Mallards Nest for season ticket holders. Exhibition game tickets go on sale to the public for $5 on Monday, October 2nd at The Mallards Nest. Remaining tickets will be sold on a walk-up basis on October 7th at the Quad City Sports Center.

The Mallards training camp roster has 22 players. Forwards in camp include Chad Woollard, Glenn Detulleo, Patrick Nadeau, Jeff Petruic, Jesse Rycroft, Sean Starke, Drew Otten, Luke Stauffacher, Tim Plett, Travis Granbois, Justin Siebold and Nigel Hawryliw. Defensemen participating in Mallards camp include Jami Yoder, Andrei Lupandin, Brent Currie, Steve MacIntyre, Bryce Charpentier, Marcus Reszka, Henrik Arnstrom and Craig Lazaruk. In goal, the Mallards welcome Jason Tapp back along with newcomer Scott Gray.
