Sacramento Republic FC Receive Thompson, Koval and Sherrod on Loan from San Jose Earthquakes

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (August 29, 2015) - Forward Mark Sherrod and midfielders Tommy Thompson and JJ Koval have been loaned to Sacramento Republic FC from their MLS Affiliate, the San Jose Earthquakes. Both Thompson and Koval were loaned to Republic FC last season.

Thompson, a Granite Bay native, appeared in six USL matches for Republic FC last season, starting three. This season, Thompson has appeared in 13 matches for the Earthquakes, including four starts. He was also a part of the US U-20 National Team during the U-20 FIFA World Cup. Thompson converted a penalty kick in a penalty shootout against Republic FC during the U.S. Open Cup on June 16.

Koval appeared in two USL matches for Republic FC last season, starting one. Koval scored a match-winning goal for Republic FC against Arizona United SC on August 2, 2014. This season, Koval has appeared in fourteen matches, including six starts, for the Quakes. He also converted a penalty kick in a penalty shootout against Republic FC during the U.S. Open Cup on June 16.

Sherrod was acquired by the Quakes this season in a trade with Orlando City SC in exchange for San Jose's natural second-round selection (25th overall) in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. Sherrod has appeared in six matches for the Quakes this season. He has two goals and an assist in 15 career MLS appearances.

All three players are eligible to play for Republic FC in tonight's match against Tulsa Roughnecks FC at Bonney Field.
