Sacramento Republic FC News Release

Hartford, Conn. - A pair of goals on either side of halftime secured Republic FC three points on Friday night, as the Indomitable Club bested Hartford Athletic 3-1 at Trinity Health Park. Sacramento took their second straight win with the result and the club's second road victory this season.

The club netted four scores for the third time in league play this season. Russell Cicerone, Sebastian Herrera, Jack Gurr and Luther Archimède all found the net for Sacramento to keep the club atop the league standings, while a first-half penalty score for the hosts was the only blemish on the night.

Russell Cicerone's 19th minute effort put the club ahead first and pulled the forward even at the top of the golden boot race with Pittsburgh Riverhounds' Albert Dikwa. Luis Felipe set up the Michigan native for his first assist of the season as Cicerone put a shot just past the outstretched arms of Hartford's keeper. The hosts pulled even moments later after being awarded a penalty kick on the counter. Kyle Adams converted the attempt - the first penalty conceded by the Quails this season.

Sacramento went into the break up a score. After Jack Gurr won a penalty for the Indomitable Club, Sebastian Herrera found the net from the spot, his second score in as many games and third in league play this season. Gurr came close to finding the net moments later, but he was denied by the goalkeeper one-on-one.

Gurr eventually found his goal early in the second half. After an Aldair Sanchez cross slipped through the defense, a shot from the Englishman deflected off an opponent and into the net for his third goal of the season. The score was his first since April 1 at home against Louisville City FC. Luther Archimède added a fourth after entering for Cicerone with five minutes remaining.

Republic FC continues its three-game road trip with another East Coast tilt this coming Saturday, when the club takes to Florida to face the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. from Al Lang Stadium, and the match will be broadcast live in English and Spanish on Antenna TV 40.2, FOX40.com and the FOX40 News mobile app, and streaming on ESPN+.
