
Sacramento beats Edmonton 16-2 in Canada

The Sacramento River Cats (1-0) opened the Pacific Conference Championship Series on Wednesday with a 16-2 win over the Edmonton Trappers (0-1) at TELUS Field in Edmonton, Alberta (Canada).
The River Cats scored their 16 R on 20 H and scored runs in all but two innings en route to the victory. SS Jose Flores led Sacramento's offense, going 5-for-5 with 4 RBI. He singled in all five plate appearances. C Mark Johnson and DH Jason Grabowski both had three-hit games. Grabowski hit the Cats' lone home run.
RHP Justin Duchscherer (1-0) earned the win, allowing no runs on 1 H in 6.0 IP. Including the regular season, the PCL's Pitcher of the Year has won his last 12 decisions. The River Cats held Edmonton scoreless until the ninth inning, when the Trappers scored 2 R off LHP Mike Kusiewicz.
The River Cats will play Game Two of the PCCS on Thursday (7:05 p.m.) at Edmonton. They will return to Sacramento on Friday to host Game Three of the series.
