Sabres Recall Matt Hackett from Amerks

(Rochester, NY)... The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has recalled goaltender Matt Hackett from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL). The team also announced forward Mikhail Grigorenko and goaltender Andrey Makarov have been assigned to Rochester. In addition, the Amerks have released goaltender Tim Boron from his professional tryout.

Hackett (6'2", 171 lbs., 3/7/90) last played for the Sabres when he was with the team for a one-game recall on Jan. 26. With the Amerks this season, Hackett has posted a 7-4-3 record with a 2.72 goals-against average and .907 save percentage.

The London, Ontario native appeared in eight games for the Sabres during the 2013-14 season, including a 35-save performance in his Sabres debut, a 3-1 win at Edmonton. Hackett has appeared in 22 NHL games in parts of three seasons with the Sabres and Minnesota Wild, compiling a .910 save percentage and a 2.89 goals-against average.

Hackett was drafted by Minnesota in the third round (77th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and acquired by the Sabres on April 3, 2013.
