Sabol Crushes Walk-Off HR to Lift Mets to 6-5 Win

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (August 19, 2015) - Stefan Sabol hit a titanic walk-off home run over the batter's eye in dead center field to give the St. Lucie Mets a 6-5 win over the Bradenton Marauders on Wednesday at Tradition Field.

The solo homer came with two outs on a 1-2 pitch from Miguel Rosario. It was Sabol's fourth hit and fourth RBI of the game. He went 4 for 4 with two singles, a double, the home run and a walk.

David Wright chipped in with some good defense and two singles and two runs in his sixth rehab game with the club. Wright finished 2 for 5. He did strike out looking in the eighth with the go-ahead run on third base. Wright's most impressive swing came in the second when he hit a long, loud line drive to deep center that was caught by Austin Meadows.

The Mets went up 2-0 in the first inning on RBI singles by Matt Oberste and Sabol. After Bradenton tied the game in the second, Colton Plaia gave the Mets the lead back on a bunt that scored Jhoan Urena from third.

Oberste and Sabol hit doubles in the third to make it 4-2. Sabol hit a two-out RBI single up the middle in the fifth to push the lead to 5-2.

Jordan Steranka and Wyatt Mathisen hit solo home runs to cut the Bradenton deficit to 5-4. Then with two outs in the eighth, Robby Coles threw a wild pick off throw to first base that allowed Chris Diaz to scamper up to second. Michael Fransoso followed with base hit to tie the game 5-5.

Coles pitched around a one-out double in the ninth. He was credited with the win.

Mets starter Kevin McGowan allowed three runs on eight hits in six innings.

Mathisen went 4 for 4 for the Marauders and fell a triple shy of the cycle.

Oberste went 3 for 4 and upped his average to .299.

The Mets (61-61, 26-26) travel to Roger Dean Stadium to play the Palm Beach Cardinals on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Lefty Steven Matz is expected to make a rehab start.
