PHOENIX, Ariz. (May 9, 2008) - Mark Grieb completed 28 of his 35 pass attempts for 289 yards and eight touchdowns as the San Jose SaberCats defeated the Arizona Rattlers, 63-42, in an Arena Football League game Friday night.

The SaberCats (6-5) held Arizona to an Eric Houle field goal to start the second quarter and scored on all four of their offensive possessions in the first half to take a 28-27 lead at the midway point in the game.

The Rattlers (4-6) would tie the game at 35-35 on a Chris Robinson two-point conversion run with 6:56 left in the third, but Marquis Floyd tallied the first turnover of the game with his eighth interception of the season and San Jose would never relinquish the lead thereafter.

Following Floyd's interception, Grieb hit James Roe in the endzone for his third touchdown grab of the game, which pushed the SaberCats lead to 56-42.

Rodney Wright paced the San Jose receiving core with 14 catches for 143 yards and four touchdowns.

Rattlers starting quarterback Lang Campbell suffered a knee injury on the team's first possession and was replaced by backup Jeff Smoker. The former Michigan State signal caller converted 26-of-41 passes for 250 yards and four touchdowns.

The SaberCats scored on all nine of their offensive possessions and Grieb passed John Kaleo (35,244) on the AFL's all-time passing list with 35, 364 yards in his 11-year career. San Jose became the only team in the history of the league to win 15 consecutive games against a division opponent.

Siaha Burley led the way for Arizona, catching 14 balls for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
