Soul Activate Henderson; Sign Quarterback Gauntt

PHILADELPHIA (Saturday, May 10) - The Philadelphia Soul activated wide receiver Kenny Henderson from injured reserve and signed quarterback Glen Gauntt and defensive lineman Kevin Carberry on Saturday.

Gauntt (6'2, 220) will wear uniform No. 10 and is expected to backup Soul starting quarterback Matt D'Orazio when Philadelphia travels to take on the Georgia Force on Monday at 8 p.m. (et).

Gauntt comes to the Soul after playing with the Mahoning Valley Thunder of the af2 last season. The South Florida alumnus recorded 204-of-373 passes with 49 touchdowns and 13 interceptions during his tenure with the Thunder.

Gaunt has previous AFL experience, having played with the Las Vegas Gladiators in 2006, the Georgia Force in 2005 and the Dallas Desperados in 2004, where he led the team in passing with 3,009 yards. During his time in the AFL, he has posted 273-of-458 passes for 3363 yards with 66 TDs and 15 interceptions.

Henderson will return to the active roster after spending time on the IR with a broken collarbone. He has only seen action in Week 1 so far where he garnered two receptions for 29 yards and a TD against the Orlando Predators.

Carberry (6'4, 285) will wear uniform number 91 and comes to the Soul after playing eight games with the New York Dragons in 2007, when he recorded 13.5 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and one pass defense. He signed with the New Orleans VooDoo earlier this season, but did not see any action, and spent time earlier this season on the Soul's practice squad.

The Oak Lawn, Illinois native additionally went to training camp and was signed by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2005 and also spent time on the practice squad of the Detroit Lions later that season. He also played for the Berlin Thunder of NFL Europe and went to training camp with the Carolina Panthers in 2006.

At Ohio University, Carberry finished his collegiate career with 121 tackles, 19.5 tackles for a loss and eight sacks. He was a second-team All-Mid American Conference selection in 2004.
