San Jose SaberCats News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Oct. 26, 2007) - The defending ArenaBowl champion San Jose SaberCats used their first pick in today's Arena Football League Dispersal Draft to select DB Toure' Carter and added WR Sean Morey with a second round selection.

"We selected a player in Carter who fills a need, adds depth to our roster, and could play right away if needed," said SaberCats head coach and general manager Darren Arbet.

Carter (5-10, 183) played in nine games making seven starts with the Austin Wranglers during the 2007 season where he totaled 35.5 tackles with an interception and five pass breakups.

A NCAA Division II All-American at Ashland (Ohio) University, Carter played the first three seasons of his 4-year AFL career with the Colorado Crush. He was selected with the 15th overall pick.

With the 32nd overall pick the SaberCats selected Morey (5-11, 193) off the Wranglers' exempt list. Currently a member of the Arizona Cardinals, Morey has spent six seasons in the NFL after being drafted in the seventh round (241st overall) by the New England Patriots in 1999.

A record-setting receiver at Brown University, Morey ended his collegiate career with an Ivy League record 251 receptions and was named the league's Player of the Year following his junior season. In six games with Arizona this season he has two receptions for 23 yards.

The recently relocated Cleveland franchise acquired the first overall pick in the draft in a trade with Colorado and selected defensive lineman Joe Minucci from the Nashville Kats roster. A complete list of draft selections can be viewed at www.arenafootball.com.

A premier franchise in the AFL, the San Jose SaberCats have captured three ArenaBowl titles, seven Western Division championships, eight consecutive playoff appearances and own the league's best regular season record this decade.
