SaberCats make roster moves

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Mar. 16, 2006) - Former University of Miami standout JASON GEATHERS and veteran lineman ALBREY BATTLE have been activated from injured reserve in preparation for the San Jose SaberCats Arena Football League game against the Georgia Force this Friday, the club announced today.

A four-year member of the Hurricanes program, the versatile Geathers (6-3, 215) played in 42 games at Miami compiling 40 receptions for 492 yards with six touchdowns and adding 671 yards and five touchdowns on 121 rushing attempts.

Following his collegiate career, Geathers spent time in the National Football League with the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants. He has yet to play a game in his rookie AFL season.

A six-year veteran of the SaberCats, Battle (6-4, 317) will make his season debut this Friday against the Force after sustaining an ankle injury in training camp. He has played in 82 regular season games for San Jose during his career with 45.5 total tackles and 6.5 sacks.

To make room on the active roster the SaberCats placed linemen Joe Jacobs (lower back) and George Williams (knee) on injured reserve.
