Rampage extinguishes Blaze, 59-49

The Grand Rapids Rampage smothered the Utah Blaze by forcing a team-record six turnovers in its 59-49 victory on Centennial Wireless Field at Van Andel Arena Thursday night.

Rampage WR/DB Josh Bush earned Ironman of the Game and Defensive Player of the Game honors after grabbing three receptions for 36 yards and three scores offensively and defensively posting 7.5 stops, an interception and two pass breakups.

The Rampage intercepted Utah quarterback Jason Gesser a franchise-record five times. Marvin Taylor tied a personal and team record with two interceptions. Bush, Colin Bryant and Timon Marshall also had picks.

Rampage QB Chad Salisbury was named Offensive Player of the Game after completing 19-of-30 passes for 231 yards with six interceptions and an interception for a passer rating of 112.64.

After a Blaze touchdown to start the game, the Rampage scored the game's next 24 thanks largely to three interceptions that led to 17 Grand Rapids points.

Grand Rapids has won its last three games, and five of its last six, at home. Before returning to the comfy confines of Centennial Wireless Field at Van Andel Arena for a contest against the defending ArenaBowl champion Colorado Crush on April 8, the Rampage are on the road for games against the Chicago Rush (March 26) and New York Dragons (April 1).
