Storm Activate Solomon, Hunt and Johnson

TAMPA BAY - The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm have activated OS Freddie Solomon, FB/LB Aaron Hunt and OL/DL DeMarcus Johnson from injured reserve, Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum announced today.

Solomon, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound, offensive specialist from South Carolina State, is now in his fourth season with the Storm. Solomon suffered a plantar fascia injury to his right foot during Week 3 against the Georgia Force. In three games this season Solomon has made 10 receptions for 174 yards and one touchdown.

Hunt, a rookie from Texas Tech, will be making his AFL debut on Saturday night. The 6-3, 275-pound Dennison, Texas native, played defensive line for the Red Raiders. He started in 38 of 47 games in Lubbock, Texas where he amassed 300 tackles (108 in his senior season), 34 sacks, six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He finished his career as the Texas Tech and Big XII conference career leader in sacks.

Johnson, a 6-4, 295-pound lineman from the University of Central Florida, played in four games for the Storm in 2005. In his rookie year, the Rickards High School (Tallahassee) graduate made three stops and two tackles for a loss totaling 15 yards.

Linemen Buck Gurley and Nyle Wiren, and Fullback/Linebacker Jarrod Penright have been placed on injured reserve. Gurley is suffering from a rotator cuff injury. Wiren is listed with a high-ankle sprain and Penright has a pinched nerve in his neck. The three will be eligible for return two weeks from now for the April 1st contest with the Utah Blaze at the St. Pete Times Forum.
