San Jose SaberCats News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Dec. 3, 2003) – Receiver James Hundon, the SaberCats career leader in touchdown receptions, was activated from the club's Exempt list and signed a one-year contract extension through the 2005 season, announced General Manager Terry Malley.

Hundon is one of 33 players under contract for the 2004 season that will be in attendance at the SaberCats three-day mini-camp, which opens on Thursday.

After catching 77 passes for 1,211 yards and 28 scores with San Jose during the 2003 season, Hundon signed a deal to play in the Canadian Football League with Toronto. In five games with the Argonauts, Hundon had eight catches for 124 yards and a touchdown while returning two kickoffs for 60 yards.

Signed by Calgary in August, Hundon spent the remainder of the CFL campaign with the Stampeders grabbing 17 receptions for 271 yards and returning a kickoff 103 yards for a score.

The Daly City native became San Jose's career touchdown reception leader by hauling in a pair of scores against Los Angeles in the season finale.

The SaberCats open their 10th season in the Arena Football League in February. A network-TV sport, the AFL will celebrate its second season on NBC in 2004 with the SaberCats scheduled to be broadcast a total of seven times (six road, one home).
