COMMERCE CITY, CO "" Vicente Sánchez scored his first MLS goal and created a second as the Colorado Rapids came from behind to capture a 2-1 victory over FC Dallas on Saturday night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The match was delayed nearly an hour due to lightning, and after Dallas took a lead in the second half, the Rapids scored twice in six minutes to get the win.

Dallas struck first in the 51st minute when Jair Benitez found David Ferreira to slot home from close range, but Sánchez equalized for the Rapids just eight minutes later. Chris Klute fed a cross into the box and a Dallas defender got a head to it, but it fell to Sánchez whose left-footed volley from a tight angle found the lower corner of the net.

Just six minutes later, Sánchez helped the Rapids into the lead. The Uruguayan forward, signed by the Rapids in August, received a pass from Klute and cut past Dallas defender George John to find space. His low cross was knocked into the net by Dallas defender Matt Hedges with Colorado forward Gabriel Torres lurking just behind. As Dallas pushed in the final minutes, Clint Irwin made a diving save in stoppage time from a Benitez free kick to preserve the win.

With the victory, the Rapids move into third place in the Western Conference with 45 points, three points behind rivals Real Salt Lake. The Rapids will visit the Portland Timbers on Friday, September 20 at 8 p.m. MT live on NBC Sports Network, and the team returns home on October 5 to face Seattle Sounders FC and U.S. National Team forward Clint Dempsey. The match kicks off at 8 p.m. MT, and tickets are available by calling 303-825-GOAL or visiting www.ColoradoRapids.com.
