Rycroft Named SPHL Player of Week

Columbus Cottonmouths goaltender Chad Rycroft has been named the Sher-wood SPHL player of the week for his performances during the week of December 7.

Rycroft was stellar in net for the Snakes last week, compiling a 3-0 record, with a 1.99 Goals Against Average and .938 save percentage. The 2006-07 SPHL goaltender of the year stopped 92 of 98 shots he faced.

The Snakes rebounded from an 8-game winless streak to go a perfect 4-0 on the week. Rycroft picked up the win in net for the Cottonmouths' 3-2 overtime victory over Knoxville Tuesday, 4-2 win over Fayetteville on Saturday and 4-2 win over Richmond on Sunday. Ian Vigier was in net for the Snakes' 4-2 win over Knoxville on Friday. With the victory Sunday, the Snakes moved into fourth place in the SPHL standings.

The Cottonmouths host Richmond for a pair of games this weekend. Friday, Dec. 19 is Flat Screen Friday, presented by Best Buy. One lucky fan will take home a flat screen TV or monitor. Fans can register for their chance to win at the Fan Activities Center when they arrive.

Saturday, Dec. 20 is Guinness World Record Night, sponsored by Everything Musical. The Cottonmouths will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest kazoo ensemble. Everyone in attendance will receive a kazoo and certificate of participation. All fans are being asked to sign in when they arrive to be counted as a participant. Fans can bring a receipt from the Wal-Mart on Gateway Road to the box office to receive special $7 upper level tickets to Saturday's game. Gates open early at 6 p.m.
