Cyclones Take Two Out of Three Over Weekend

WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- The Twin City Cyclones went two for three over the weekend with wins over Fayetteville on Friday (3-2) and Richmond on Saturday (2-1 in OT). The Cyclones' only loss came on Thursday against the Knoxville Ice Bears (7-4).

Ice Bears Freeze Cyclones, 7-4

The Cyclones welcomed the Knoxville Ice Bears to Winston-Salem on Thursday night, hoping to defeat them twice in a row. Unfortunately, the Ice Bears had different plans. Final score, 7-4 Knoxville.

Scoring for Twin City: Donald Melnyk, Christ Tutalo, Russell Smith, and Jim Jensen. Smith's and Jensen's goals were their first professional goals.

Cyclones Secure Victory Over FireAntz, 3-2

The Cyclones needed to gain a win at home and the FireAntz provided them with just that. Twin City, with the aid of consistent goaltending, was able to fend off the FireAntz and secure the 3-2 victory.

Scoring for the Cyclones: Marc Lefebvre, Phil Sbrocchi, and Steve Obelnicki. Kevin Druce recorded 37 saves.

Cyclones Close Out Richmond in OT, 2-1

The Cyclones hoped to carry over their win against Fayetteville last night as they hosted the Richmond Renegades on Saturday night. Though it was a low-scoring game, the Cyclones stuck it out and came away with the 2-1 victory. Scoring the game-winner, in overtime, for the Cyclones was Donald Melnyk.

The Cyclones will start on the road for next week's games with a stop in Fayetteville on Thursday, but will return home on Friday to host the Ice Bears.
