
Ryan Howard Named to FSL HOF

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Florida State League Hall of Fame Committee has announced the 2016 Class of Inductees for the 8th Induction Ceremony. Former Clearwater and Philadelphia Phillie, Ryan Howard, is among those to be honored on November 15 at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort in Clearwater.Howard was the Florida State League Player of the Year in 2003 as a member of the Clearwater Phillies when he batted .304 with 23 home runs and 82 RBIs over 130 games. Howard was the 5th round pick of the Phillies in 2001 and was the National League Rookie of the Year in 2005. He won both the Silver Slugger Award and the NL MVP Award in 2006 and was a three-time All Star. Howard also led the Majors in home runs twice and RBIs three times.
The FSL will also be inducting former Phillie Roy Halladay and players Travis Hafner and Joe Mauer. Managers Marc Bombard and Gene Lamont, executives Don Miers and Dick Radatz Jr., and umpire John Hirschbeck will be joining Howard in the FSL Hall of Fame.
