Windsor Spitfires News Release

Ryan Ellis put in one of the truly great seasons in Spitfires history this year.

And the final week of the regular season, arguably his best, has earned him the Tecumseh and South Walkerville Vision Centres Windsor Spitfires Player of the Week award for the period ending Sunday, March 20th.

Ellis had two goals and three assists, with a +3 rating in three games last week, including his 100th point of the season in Saginaw last Saturday night.

His overtime game-winning goal, in a 5-4 victory over the Spirit, made him the 23rd player and just the second ever Spits defenceman to break the century mark in points.

Joel Quenneville had 103 back in the 1977-1978 season.

Ellis also became the first defenceman to lead his team in scoring since Drew Doughty (21G, 53A) did in for the Guelph Storm, in 2006-2007.

Dr. Peters, Dr. Larocque, Dr. Tolmie, Dr. Tarr, Dr. Azar, Dr. Harvey and Dr. McClure of Tecumseh and South Walkerville Vision Centres congratulate Ryan Ellis on an outstanding week and wish the Spitfires all the best of luck in the playoffs.

Due to late releases, the Windsor Spitfires have great seats available for home games one and two of their round one, 2011 OHL playoff series against the Erie Otters, to be hosted at the WFCU Centre on Thursday, March 24th and Monday, March 28th. Game time is set for 7:05 pm on both nights.

Fans are encouraged to come out and watch one of the most anticipated first round playoff series in the OHL, as the Western Conference's #4 seeded Spitfires take on the #5 ranked Otters. Windsor and Erie each won two games in the season series.
