MONTREAL - CF Montréal announced on Thursday that defender Róbert Thorkelsson has been loaned to Kongsvinger IL Toppfotball, in Norway's second division, until August 1, 2024. The Norwegian club has the option to acquire the player via permanent transfer.
The 22-year-old Icelandic defender was acquired by CF Montréal on June 27, 2021 from Icelandic first division club Breiðablik. In four seasons in Montreal, Thorkelsson played 20 games, two as a starter, and accumulated 383 minutes of play.
He began his professional career in 2018 with Afturelding, in the Icelandic third division, scoring five goals in 26 games.
