Rusty Begnaud Wristbands Now On Sale
July 12, 2006 - American Association (AA)
Pensacola Pelicans News Release
The Pensacola Pelicans are proud to announce that wristbands for Pelicans Pitcher Rusty Begnaud are now on sale.
The cost for each wristband is $3, and 100 percent of profits go to the Rusty Begnaud Benefit Account to help the family with mounting medical expenses.
Fans can purchase wristbands at the Pelicans Front Office located at 913 Gulf Breeze Pkwy., Suite 8A or by visiting the Souvenir Shop at Pelican Park. Orders may also be placed by phone at 934-8444; shipping fees apply. Cash, checks and major credit cards are accepted.
Begnaud, who was injured in a swimming accident on June 20, is paralyzed from the chest down. He is currently in rehabilitation at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA.
Each wristband reads "'Where'd who go?' Rusty 18" illustrating Begnaud's trademark sense of humor and that of his close friends and family.
"We asked one of Rusty's closest teammates, Sam Smith, what we should have printed on the wristbands," said Jessica Morris, community relations director for the Pelicans. "He just grinned and said, 'Where'd who go?' His dad thought it was funny too...it's obviously an inside joke."
