Quad City Mallards News Release
RAPID CITY, S.D. - Jeff Lee broke a 2-2 second period tie with the third unanswered Rapid City Rush goal and the host Rush went on to defeat the Quad City Mallards 3-2 Saturday night.
Lee snapped the deadlock with a wrist shot from the slot at 8:47 of the second. After Lee's goal John Murray replaced Jimmy Spratt in the Mallard net.
The Rush's rally from a 2-0 deficit started with two quick goals late in the first period. Rapid City got on the scoreboard for the first time when Scott Wray buried Jordan Behler's centering feed at 16:23 of the first. A mere 41 seconds later, Jordan Baker cut into the slot to even the score.
It was the Mallards who produced the rapid fire offense early on. Jason Dixon opened the scoring on the power play when his centering pass was deflected home by a Rapid City defenseman at 6:47 of the first. Just 20 seconds later, Anthony Perdicaro doubled the Mallard lead from the doorstep, but Rapid City goaltender Danny Battochio (24 saves) would keep the Mallards off the scoreboard the rest of the way while his teammates overturned the Mallard lead.
The Mallards next play at home next Friday at 7:05 p.m. against the Tulsa Oilers. Next Friday night's game will also feature mascot Mo Mallard's Toast to the End of the World in recognition of the ancient Mayan prophecy predicting the end of days on December 21. In addition, in preparation for the end times, Mo will be clearing out his vast underground bunker and thus providing a wide variety of Mallards prizes old, new and in between that will be given away at that game.
Tickets for next Friday's game- as well as seats for all remaining Mallards regular season home games- can be purchased in person at the i wireless Center ticket office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. The ticket office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period.
2012-13 Mallards season tickets as well as the Mallards' new Partial Punch Plan are also still available. The Mallards offer ticket packages to meet any budget, including youth season tickets now available for as little at $165. The Partial Punch Plan provides flexibility and affordability- each Punch Plan punch card can be redeemed for ten tickets- whether those tickets are for ten different games, all for the same game or anything in between- subject to availability. Partial Punch Plans can be had for as little as $70 for youth 12 and under. For more ticket package information, fans can call the Mallards at 309-277-1364.
