Rapid City Rush News Release
(Rapid City, SD) - Friday night, the Rapid City Rush hit the ice against the Quad City Mallards sporting specialty jerseys in celebration of Firefighter Appreciation Night. The Rush tallied the first two goals of the night before the Mallards would mount a four-goal comeback in the final period to top the Rush 4-2. The next home game is tomorrow Saturday, December 15th as the Rush are back at it against the Mallards and tickets available at gotmine.com or by calling 716-PUCK.
The Rush got on the scoreboard first just 5:01 into the first frame off a shot by Kyle Peto which ultimately was deflected in by Scott Brannon giving the Rush the early lead. Brannon has scored goals in three straight and five times in the last eight games.
After a scoreless second frame, the Rush would score just 47 seconds into the third period as Kyle Peto tallied his third goal of the season off a slap-shot from the blue-line, doubling the lead. However, the Mallards came roaring back with goals from Bob Preece and Mike Stinziani just over two minutes apart to even the tilt 2-2. Shortly after the game-tying goal, Mickey Lang buried the go-ahead-goal for the Mallards and later sealed the game with an empty net goal, lifting Quad City to a 4-2 win.
