
Rush Receive Bunting and Mermis from Springfield

(RAPID CITY, SD) - The Arizona Coyotes, NHL affiliate of the Rapid City Rush, have re-assigned rookie forward Michael Bunting and rookie defenseman Dakota Mermis to the Rapid City Rush from the AHL's Springfield Falcons. Bunting makes his return to the Rush after playing twice for the club last weekend in a split with the Alaska Aces.
Mermis, a 21 year-old native of Alton, Illinois, has made 2 appearances for the Falcons in the AHL and has not recorded any points. Prior to playing professional, the 6'0", 190-pound blueliner played in the OHL with the London Knights and Oshawa Generals, the latter of which he won both the OHL Championship and Memorial Cup Championship with last season, in the NCAA with the University of Denver for one season, and in the USHL with the Green Bay Gamblers, Lincoln Stars, and United States National Team Development Program. In his stint with the Generals last season, Mermis recorded 19 points (5 G, 14 Ast) in 30 games along with a +26 rating, and almost recorded a point-per-game pace in the postseason with 11 points (G, 10 Ast) in 16 contests with a +9 rating.
The Rush are back in action against the defending Kelly Cup Champion Allen Americans this weekend on Friday and Saturday November 6th and 7th, playing for the first time since their heated Central Division Finals series in the playoffs.
