Utah Upends Aces 4-2 Wednesday Night

ANCHORAGE, AK - The Utah Grizzlies got 2 goals from Matt Berry and 28 saves from Ryan Faragher as they defeated the Aces 4-2 Wednesday night at the Sullivan Arena.

The Aces fought off an early Utah attack with strong goaltending from Troy Redmann, then scored the game's first goal as Justin Breton whacked in a rebound of a Ben Lake shot at 3:33 to make it 1-0 Alaska.

Utah answered with goals from Josh McDonald and Charles Sarault to make it 2-1 Grizzlies after one.

In the second period, Aces newcomer Garet Hunt made his presence felt by downing Shane Taker with a flurry of left punches, but was tagged with a roughing penalty in addition to five for fighting. The Aces were already down a man, and Berry made Alaska pay with a 5-3 power play goal at 8:20.

The Aces shoved back with a power play tip goal by Joe Perry off a shot by William Wrenn to make it 3-2 Utah.

The final tally was a Berry goal from short-range off a feed from Sarault at 8:27 of the third period.

Faragher had 28 saves while Redmann had 27.

Alaska and Utah will meet again Friday and Saturday nights at the Sullivan Arena.
