
Rush Rally to Steal Point in 3-2 Overtime Loss to Allen

(Rapid City, SD) - With a thrilling third period flurry on Saturday night, the Rapid City Rush forced extra time to secure three out of a possible four points in a weekend pair versus the league-leading Allen Americans. The Rush mounted a comeback in the final four minutes of the third period with goals by Kyle Peto and Rusty Masters, but would ultimately be dealt the 3-2 loss in overtime. The first 40 minutes of play were dominated by back-and-forth hockey and crushing hits, but by the end, the Americans would claim the two goal advantage. The first tally came with just 1:07 remaining in the first period as Kale Kebashian tucked away his 10th of the season. Darryl Bootland extended the Americans lead to two 5:44 into the second frame on a rebound from the low slot.
The Rush would not go quietly as Kyle Peto cut the American lead in half with a blast from the blue line off a centering pass from Jesse Schultz at 16:12. Rusty Masters completed the late third period comeback notching his tenth goal of the season with just 1:52 remaining in regulation, sending the contest to extra time.
Jamie Schaafsma hit the game winner just 1:04 into the overtime period for the Americans as the Rush were dealt the 3-2 overtime loss. The Rush are currently in fourth place and after earning one point tonight now sit at 68 points, five ahead of the 5th-place Missouri Mavericks.
