Arizona Sundogs News Release

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs held off the Ft. Worth Brahmas in a 2-1 win at the NYTEX Sports Centre Saturday night, picking up two points and maintaining seventh place in the standings.

The Brahmas struck first for the second game in a row, when Tomas Klempa scored an unassisted goal 11:28 into the first period. Just under five minutes later, Arizona answered back when Mario Larocque's slap shot lit the lamp. Zack Firlotte and Jason Morgan were both credited with the assists. Only one penalty was accessed during the opening period when John Snowden was issued a two minute high sticking minor.

The second period was scoreless holding the game tied at one goal each heading into the final period. The Sundogs and Brahmas would each receive a power play opportunity in the middle frame but neither team could capitalize on the man-advantage.

Arizona's Kevin Baker scored an unassisted goal and the game winning goal 2:25 into the final period. He continued his goal streak and has collected 11 points in four games. Despite Derek LeBlanc's late penalty for elbowing with 1:26 remaining in regulation, the Sundogs were able to hold off the Brahmas for the win.

Adam Russo took the win for the Sundogs with 14 saves. Arizona outshot Ft. Worth 19-15. The Sundogs were 0-2 on the power play and the Brahmas were 0-3 on the power play. The Sundogs conclude their last regular season road trip when they head to Allen when they take on the Americans on Tuesday night.
