INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Firebirds' kicker Clay Rush has been named the Arena Football League's Kicker of the Month for his efficiency during the month of April, the League announced today.
Last month Rush connected on 6-of-10 field goal attempts and was 24-of-26 on extra point attempts (92%), giving him a total of 42 points scored in the month of April. Rush has totaled 122 points on the season, making him the League's second-leading scorer among all kickers.
In his first season with the Firebirds (5th overall), Rush has established himself as one of the top kickers in the Arena Football League. Rush has connected on 19-of-36 field goal attempts, which is tops in the AFL, and made 65-of-74 extra point attempts (88%) in thirteen games this season. His nineteen made field goals this season ties him with Pete Elezovic for the second most in Firebirds' history with three games remaining in the regular season.
Rush and the Firebirds return to action this Sunday afternoon when the Georgia Force come to town for Indiana's final regular season home game for the two team's first-ever meeting. The game will be televised live on NBC Sports with kickoff scheduled for 2:00 pm (Indianapolis Time). The game can also be heard on the Firebirds' Radio Network, which includes ESPN Radio 950 AM, WPZZ 95.9 FM "The Point", ESPN Radio 1130 (Brazil), and ESPN Radio 1300 (Terre Haute).
