Albany/Indiana Firebirds News Release

INDIANAPOLIS – The Arena Football League will announce the 2004 AFL Rookie of the Year tomorrow LIVE on ESPNews. The announcement will come at 3:45 PM (CT), as have the first two post-season award announcements. Orlando's Jay Taylor was named Kicker of the Year on Monday and Chicago's John Moyer earned his first Lineman of the Year award, as announced on ESPNews this afternoon.

Indiana fans may want to tune in on Wednesday, as QB Adrian McPherson has been tabbed as one of the finalists for the award following his first season in the AFL. McPherson was named the Rookie of the Month for March and was honored as the AFL's Offensive Player of the Week in week 17 for his performance in Indiana's late-season victory over playoff semifinalists Colorado.

McPherson was named the top rookie signal-caller last week when he was named to the AFL 2004 All-Rookie Team McPherson has said in repeated interviews that he plans on returning to Indiana next season, despite the attention he drew from several NFL scouts during his first season of pro football since leaving Florida State University.

Other top candidates for Wednesday's announcement include Chicago WR/LB Etu Molden, Austin OS Tacoma Fontaine, Philadelphia WR/LB Sean Scott, New York WR/DB Lincoln Dupree, and Dallas OL/DL Colston Weatherington.
