Las Vegas Gladiators Sign OL/DL Hardy Mitchell

Las Vegas, NV, May 1, 2003 –The Las Vegas Gladiators, of the Arena Football League, announced today they have signed OL/DL Hardy Mitchell, who spent the first part of the 2003 season with the Buffalo Destroyers, to their active roster. Mitchell played in eight games this season with Buffalo, recording 10 tackles, one sack and two quarterback hurries. The four-year AFL veteran out of the University of Buffalo has also spent time with Toronto, Milwaukee and Houston. To make room on the roster, the Gladiators waived WR/LB George Williams. Williams had played in six games, catching 22 balls for 261 and four touchdowns. The Gladiators continue on their Drive to ArenaBowl XVII playoffs on Saturday night at 7 PM PT when the host division rival New York at the Thomas & Mack Center. Often recognized as one of the nation's most affordable and fan-friendly sports leagues, the Arena Football League kicked off its 17th season and the first on NBC on Sunday, February 2, 2003. NBC will provide the AFL with unprecedented exposure by televising up to 70 games, including playoff contests and ArenaBowl XVII on June 22.
