Albany/Indiana Firebirds News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - At the request of the U.S. Army & Air Force Exchange Service, the Indiana Firebirds of the Arena Football League will send four members of the team's "Fabulous Flames" dance squad to the U.S. Military Base at Fort Hood, Texas to visit and perform for our troops.

Firebirds' Fabulous Flames Timnah, Carey, Melissa, and Suzy will arrive at Fort Hood on Friday, May 9th and return to Indianapolis on Sunday, May 11th.

Located in Central Texas, Fort Hood covers a total of 388 square miles and is home for 47,000 soldiers and 30,000 children along with being the only post in the United States that supports two full armored divisions. In addition to the 1st Cavalry Division and the 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood is also residence for the 13th Corps Support Command, the Headquarters Command III Corps, the 3rd Signal Brigade and various other units and tenant organizations.

On Friday, May 9th, the Flames will have lunch with the troops, visit the soldiers in their work areas, view Apache and Blackhawk Helicopters, and mingle in the Officer Club. Saturday will include spending time with soldiers before visiting fire stations and hospitals in the area. There also will be an autograph session at the Clear Creek PX, which will precede a laser bowling outing at Phantom Lanes.

Fort Hood is the home base of U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officers Ronald Young and David Williams, the two former American P.O.W.'s recently returned from Iraq after being captured when their Apache Longbow helicopter went down in enemy territory. If you would like to send a message to former P.O.W.'s Ronald Young and David Williams or any of our troops stationed at Fort Hood, come out to Conseco Fieldhouse for the May 4th contest between the Firebirds and Georgia Force and sign one of the cards which the Flames will deliver to the troops during their trip to Fort Hood. For ticket information, call Ticketmaster at 239-5151 or visit www.ticketmaster.com.

The Firebirds return home this Sunday, May 4th for the team's final home game of the regular season when they host the Georgia Force for the two team's first-ever meeting. The game will be broadcast live on NBC Sports with kickoff scheduled for 2:00 p.m. (Indianapolis Time). The game can also be heard on the Firebirds' Radio Network, which includes ESPN Radio 950 AM (Indianapolis), WPZZ 95.9 FM (Franklin, IN), ESPN Radio 1130 AM (Brazil) and ESPN Radio 1300 AM (Terre Haute).
