Rapid City Rush News Release
(Rapid City, SD) - On Saturday night, the Rapid City Rush stayed alive in the Turner Conference Finals, earning a 3-2 win over the Colorado Eagles at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. After a record 68 saves in game #4, Tim Boron turned away 28 shots in the victory. The Eagles now lead the best-of-7 series 3-2 with game #6 set for Monday at 7:05pm in Loveland, CO.
For the second-straight game, the Rush got on the board first, potting the opening goal just over two minutes left in the first period. Josh Beaulieu's shot from the goal mouth rang off the post, but after numerous attempts, captain Scott Wray shoved home his fifth of the postseason.
The Rush carried the momentum into the second frame, doubling the lead at the 2:00 mark. With Kevin Harvey providing a screen, Derek LeBlanc snapped a shot home from the bottom of the right circle. Harvey then potted a goal of his own, deflecting a Riley Weselowski shot home while on the powerplay, giving the Rush a 3-0 lead midway through regulation. Late in the second, Adam Hogg cut the lead to two when he roofed a shot from the top of the crease that beat Boron over the blocker.
At the 5:15 mark of the final period, a 4-on-2 rush for the Eagles resulted in Scott May rebounding home his fourth of the playoffs, making it a one-goal game. With a tie within reach, the Eagles pulled goaltender Kyle Jones in favor of an extra attacker, but the Rush held on for the 3-2 win.
