Rush fall short against Eagles in 2nd preseason play

(Fort Collins, CO) - The Rapid City Rush failed to make it a perfect 2-0 in preseason play on Saturday as they fell to the Colorado Eagles by a score of 6-0. The two teams combined for 92 penalty minutes in the first meeting between the squads.

The Rush got off to a slow start for the second straight night and the Eagles took full advantage jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first period. Picking up goals for Colorado in the first were Erik Adams, Steve Haddon, and Riley Nelson. The first period also showed the potential for a rivalry as there were 74 penalty minutes which included four fights. Shots after the first were 18-4 in favor of the Eagles.

Colorado added insurance goals from Adam Hogg who tallied his goal in the second period, and two 3rd period goals from Ryan Tobler. On the night, the Rush were held 0-for-9 on the man advantage while the Eagles went 1-for-5.

Picking up a shutout on the night was Eagles goaltender Andrew Penner who made 11 saves. In net for the Rush was goaltender Lanny Ramage who made 41 saves on 47 shots.

"Tonight we played several of our newer players and they went up against the starting line of the Eagles," said Coach Joe Ferras. "I wanted to give each player a second look before decisions are made next week."

The two teams face off again on Friday and Saturday to kick off the regular season, both games are scheduled for 7:05pm.
