Laredo Bucks News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Corpus Christi Ice Rays 3-0 Saturday night at the American Bank Center, in each team's final pre-season game.

The Bucks, who were outshot by the Ice Rays 30-26 Saturday, lost all three of their exhibition games.

Corpus Christi's goaltenders Kris Tebbs and Dustin Traylen split the shutout, with both netminders stopping 13 shots apiece.

Each team came out very aggresive in the first period, as there were three separate fights through the first nine minutes of the contest.

Neither team could light the lamp in the opening 20 minutes, with the Bucks outshooting the Ice Rays 11-10. Laredo's All-Star goaltender Sebastien Centomo set aside all 10 shots he saw in the first period, while Corpus netminder Kris Tebbs set aside all 11 Bucks shot attempts.

Both Laredo and Corpus Christi came up empty on the power-play in the first period, with the Bucks going 0-for-3, while the Ice Rays were 0-for-1.

The Ice Rays would jump out in front 1-0 5:37 into the second period, when team captain Justin Quenneville took a pass from Nicholas Bachand, and then sent a shot past Centomo. Tebbs picked up the other assist on the tally for Corpus.

Corpus Christi would increase their lead to 2-0 with 4:17 left in the second period, when Patrick Steinmayr connected on the power-play. Steinmayr took a pass from Jeff Grant, then sent a shot past Bucks rookie goaltender Ryan Gibb. Gibb replaced Centomo in net six minutes into the period.

The Ice Rays more than doubled up the Bucks in second period shots, with an 11-5 advantage in that category.

Corpus put the game away late in the third period when Adam Powell made it 3-0 Rays, with 4:38 left in the game. Powell took a nice pass from Quenneville, then sent a shot past Gibb.

The Bucks will now have to trim their roster from 26 players to 19 before Thursday (Oct 16th), the day before the regular season opener. Keep checking www.laredobucks.com for all of the Bucks roster information.
