Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - With playoff positioning on the line, the Rapid City Rush were dealt a 3-2 shootout loss by the Laredo Bucks on Saturday night, but secured three of a possible four points on the weekend. With that, the Rush remain tied for fourth place in the Turner Conference with two games in hand on the Quad City Mallards. The Rush now hit the road for a game against the Missouri Mavericks, set for Tuesday at 6:05pm MST.

The Bucks broke a scoreless tie 9:44 into the second period when defenseman David Inman weaved through the neutral zone before snapping low wrist shot from the left circle for his 11th goal of the season. With less than three minutes remaining in the period, Micheal Couch evened the score with a screened wrist shot from the left point, serving as his 5th of the year. However, the Bucks regained the lead on the next shift when leading-scorer Rusty Masters bounced a puck just over the outstretched Tim Boron.

Rapid City knotted the game when Scott Wray rebounded home his 17th of the season, forcing overtime and earning a standings point for the Rush.

When the contest headed to a shootout the Bucks goaltender Ryan Rondeau turned aside all four shots faced while Erik Boisvert and Matt Hanson each converted for the 3-2 win.
