(Laredo, TX) - The Rapid City Rush went to overtime for the fourth time in their first five games, and once again came up short. For the first time however, the Rush did not lose in a shootout as the Laredo Bucks were able to end the game in overtime.

For only the second time this season, Rapid City gave up the first goal of the contest as the Laredo Bucks struck first at the 4:25 mark of the first period. Picking up the goal was Serge Dube as Jeff Bes and Matt Summers set up the play. Bes was in behind the net when he found Dube out in front and he was able to a sneak a shot past Rush goaltender Miguel Beaudry. For Bes, it was his 300th game in a Laredo Buck uniform. Rapid City did not stay behind for long as strong passing enabled the Rush to knot the score at one apiece at the 13:30 mark of the first frame. Les Reaney was able to score his third goal of the season with the assists going to veterans Chris Lipsett and Mark DeSantis. DeSantis moved the puck to Reaney who fed Lipsett who returned a pass to the streaking Reaney who deked past Laredo goaltender Sebastian Centomo for the equalizer. The Rush would then take their first lead of the game as Chris Lipsett collected his second point of the day. The assistant captain received a pass from Rich Hansen and then beat Centomo to the blocker-side at the 17:46 mark to complete the 1st period scoring.

The game remained a 2-1 Rush lead until the 6:44 mark of the third period. Igor Agarunov's unassisted goal was his second of the season, and it tied the score at 2. Regulation time ended with both teams tied at two, and shots 34-30 in favor of the Bucks.

In overtime, it took only one shot and 25 seconds for Jason Dixon to win the game for Laredo. Alex Goupil took a shot from the point and Dixon was able to put away the rebound for the win.

The Rapid City Rush now move to 1-0-3 on the season as their 6 points are good enough for second in the northeast division. For the first time on the year, the Rush did not give up a power- play goal as they held Laredo scoreless on eight attempts. The Rush converted on one of their 10 power-play chances. Miguel Beaudry made 32 saves on the game as Centomo made 28 for the Bucks.
