Rush Debuts at Central States Fair

Temps were hot and so was the Rapid City Rush booth yesterday at the Central States Fair. Rush fans and fairgoers sported logo inspired temporary tattoos and showed off their hockey skills in a puck shoot-out.
"This is a fun way for the team to get out and interact with the general public," said General Manager Jason Rent. "It gives us a chance to educate the public on the game of hockey, our organization and have fun teaching the kids how to hold a hockey stick. This is a new sport to the area and it was exciting to see the number of kids wanting to shoot," said Rent.
The Rush booth opens today at noon with a variety of activities including autograph signings by Player-Assistant Mark DeSantis from noon to 4 pm, and Player-Assistant Chris Lipsett will wrap up autograph signings from 4 pm to 8 pm. In addition, the team will be demonstrating how to hold a hockey stick and shoot a puck as well as offering temporary tattoos. All activities at the Rush booth are free to the public.
Saturday's line-up includes the Mascot unveiling and autograph signings by Rush players DeSantis and Lipsett. The Mascot will be available for photographs from noon to 3 pm at the Rush booth.
The Mascot hasn't been named yet. "We're planning to hold a Name-the-Mascot Contest with grade school kids," said Rent. "We had such an overwhelming response with the Name-the-Team Contest we thought we'd involve the younger Rush fans and allow them to take a stab at the Mascot name."
