Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - The Rapid City Rush recently sent out players and coaches to assist in the construction of Parkview Park. The project was partially funded by the Rush Foundation which raised money throughout the 2009-10 season.

"The Parkview Playground project was an idea that had been on the table for about seven years," said Rapid City Parks and Recreation Director Jerry Cole. "This is a new neighborhood in Rapid City and a lot of new families are moving into the area. The neighborhood was taking advantage of the swimming pool, softball fields and the new tennis courts that had been built but in order to call this a true neighborhood park we still needed to build a playground. The Rapid City Parks and Recreation Department had been trying to put together the funding for this project and kept falling short. It was finally made a reality when the RUSH Organization and Foundation stepped forward to help the community out. These types of Public/Private partnerships are the key to making a community grow and prosper."

Back on June 9th, the Rapid City Rush Foundation presented a check to the City of Rapid City Parks Department for $20,000 as part of their "Rehab Rapid City Parks" initiative. The Rapid City Rush Foundation raffled tickets during the 2009-2010 season for a new Ford Rush Waldoch Conversion Van as well as auctioned team specialty jerseys to raise funds for the project.

"The Parkview playground project couldn't have gotten off the ground without the Rush Organization and Foundation," continued Cole. "They worked together to fundraise and brought $20,000 to the table to help build this playground. Then with the help of the players and coaches themselves working onsite we were able to complete this project on time and on budget."
