
Mallards Open with Fan Fest, Tom Petty Tribute Band October 16

MOLINE, Ill. (September 23, 2010) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League today announced the team will raise the curtain on its first CHL season on October 16 with an outdoor Fan Fest featuring Tom Petty tribute band Free Fallin prior to the Mallards' season opener against the Odessa Jackalopes at the i wireless Center.
Single game tickets for the regular season opener and all other Mallards regular season home games will go on sale on Monday, October 4. On the day of the opener Fan Fest gates will open at 4:30 p.m. Free Fallin will perform beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the i wireless Center parking lot to set the stage for what will be the Mallards' first ever CHL game at 7:05 p.m. Admission to the concert is free with the purchase of a ticket to the Mallards' opener.
"Opening night is going to be a great evening for our fans both on and off the ice," said Mallards President Chris Presson. "There will be plenty of fun from the minute Free Fallin takes the stage and throughout the Fan Fest and all the way up until the final horn of our game against Odessa."
Fan Fest will feature a beer garden, food, games, kids' activities and autographed prize giveaways. In addition, all fans attending the opener will receive a free Mallards schedule poster.
Free Fallin is the nation's premier Tom Petty tribute band. Free Fallin captures the essence of Petty's music and delivers each song with the passion and power that Petty himself put into them. Free Fallin's instrumentation duplicates the sound of the Heartbreakers while Free Fallin's look also follows that of the original band. Beginning October 4, tickets for the opener and each of the Mallards' other 32 regular season home games will be available in person at the i wireless Center box office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. The box office will be open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and on game days other than Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period. On Sundays on which the Mallards play at home the ticket office will be open from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the second period. Individual game tickets will be available for $10 in the upper level and $15 in the lower level.
