Real Salt Lake News Release
SALT LAKE CITY (Monday, March 28, 2005) â RSL on KSL is now a reality, as Real Salt Lake today announced that Utah's NBC affiliate, KSL 5 Television, will air five of the team's inaugural season broadcasts in 2005. Play-by-play and color analyst talent will be announced on Tuesday.
The partnership kicks off on Saturday, April 2, at 6:30 p.m. MT, with a 30-minute pre-game show and Real Salt Lake's inaugural regular-season contest from the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, New Jersey, against the MetroStars. KSL follows up a week later by broadcasting from The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., as Real Salt Lake faces the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday, April 9, at 8:00 p.m. MT.
"The partnership between KSL and Real Salt Lake is truly a breakthrough," said RSL General Manager Steve Pastorino. "This deal represents the largest number of games on a network over-the-air affiliate in Major League Soccer's 10 year history, and the fact that an expansion organization put it together speaks volumes about the support of and interest in pro soccer in this area."
