Royals Host Winterhawks in Final Regular Season Homestand

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals welcome the Portland Winterhawks to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre this Wednesday, March 14th and Friday, March 16th. Puck drop for both games is set for 7:05 p.m.

Wednesday's contest has already sold-out while Friday's game is quickly approaching a capacity crowd as well. Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets for Friday at the Select Your Tickets box office located at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, online at selectyourtickets.com or over the phone at (250)220-7777.

Victoria currently sits in eighth place in the WHL's Western Conference with 51 points, three points clear of the ninth-ranked Seattle Thunderbirds and one point back of the seventh place Everett Silvertips. The top eight teams in the conference qualify for the playoffs, which begin on Friday, March 23.

The Royals' playoff game dates, opponents and start times are all to be determined. Only tickets to the first two home games of the playoffs will be made available at this time.

Group rates for playoff tickets are also available, starting as low as $10 per ticket. Wednesday, March 14th

The Royals will host the Winterhawks in front of a sold-out crowd this Wednesday on the Ocean 98.5 and 103.1 JACK FM Night.

Both radio stations will be in the concourse at Gate 1 taking entries to participate in their promotions during Wednesday night's game.

The Ocean 98.5 will give one fan the chance to win up to $10,000 in the Work Day Pay Day live at Gate 1 prior to puck drop, while 103.1 JACK FM will give five fans the chance to win $500 in the $500 A Day Give Away on the ice during the second intermission.

Victoria Hyundai will also be in the concourse taking entries for a chance to Score a Hyundai with Victoria Hyundai during the Friday, March 16 game.

Fans will have the chance to bid on the game-worn Pink in the Rink jerseys of Keegan Kanzig, Taylor Crunk and Brett Cote beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday and ending during the second intermission of Friday's game. Bids can be placed at the Guest Services desk on the concourse. Winners of the auction will be announced on-ice following the conclusion of the March 16 game. All proceed from the silent auction will go directly towards the B.C. Cancer Foundation.

The Old House Village Chuck-A-Puck will take place during the second intermission of Wednesday night's game, with proceeds going towards the Victoria Volleyball Association. Fans have the chance to win a one night stay and spa treatment for two from Old House Village, as well as a Charlestown Chiefs Replica Jersey autographed by the Hanson Brothers.

A 50/50 draw will also be held in support of the Top Guns Charity, while the Tim Bits Minor Hockey showcase will occur during the first intermission, featuring Victoria Racquet Club Minor Hockey.

Friday, March 16th

The Royals' Fan Appreciation Night is set for this Friday as Victoria concludes its regular season schedule against Portland as the players and staff salute the fans for their support over the course of the inaugural season.

Fans can look forward to in-stands giveaways from a variety of Royals' partners, including Coca-Cola, Telus, Langford Lanes, Uptown Shopping Centre, Popeye's, Fatburger, Chop Shop Victoria, Milestones, Soprano's and more.

Victoria will also be making presentations to KidSport Victoria, The Mustard Seed Food Bank and the B.C. Cancer Foundation to reflect season-long fundraising initiatives.

During the first intermission of Friday night's game, one lucky will fan will have a chance to Score a Hyundai with Victoria Hyundai, while the second intermission will see three fans take part in the Sun Rype Taste the Sun Trike Race to win prizing from Sun Rype. Fans can also look for Sun Rype to distribute product samples on exit at the conclusion of the game.

A 50/50 draw will also be held, with $2700 guaranteed from a previously unclaimed prize. Proceeds from the draw will support the Westshore Rebels Football team.

Old House Village will also hold its Chuck-A-Puck competition to benefit the View Royal Elementary PAC. Fans can win a one night stay and spa treatment for two from Old House Village, a $400 gift card from Golf Vancouver Island, or one of three 3-Month passes to Vancouver Island Fitness.

Following the conclusion of Friday night's game, those in attendance will have the opportunity to bid in a live auction on the ice for Marty the Marmot's Pink in the Rink jersey. Winners of the silent auction for Keegan Kanzig, Taylor Crunk and Brett Cote's game-worn Pink in the Rink jerseys will also be able to collect their jerseys on-ice following Friday's contest.

Fans are also reminded that tickets are available for the Victoria Royals' Year-End Awards Ceremony taking place this Saturday, March 17th at 3:00 p.m. at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

The awards ceremony begins at 4:00 p.m. and will be hosted by Cliff LeQuesne of 100.3 The Q. Those in attendance will enjoy video vignettes from throughout the inaugural season as players are recognized for their efforts and achievements during the 2011-12 WHL Regular Season.

A limited amount of tickets are available to the general public for a price of $50.00 for adults and $25.00 for children. Current season ticket holders who place their $100 per seat deposit on their 2012-13 season tickets before the "early bird" renewal deadline of March 14th will receive complimentary tickets to this event as a thank-you for their commitment.
