Royals Announce Recent Transactions

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has suspended forward Rob Shearer, who informed the club that he intends to play European pro. In other transactions recently completed, the Royals (i) activated forward Everett Sheen from the 7-Day Injured Reserve; (ii) transferred forward Olivier Labelle from the 3-Day Injured Reserve to the 7-Day Injured Reserve; and (iii) placed defenseman Dave Cowan on the 3-Day Injured Reserve.

In other transactions previously completed, (i) the Toronto Maple Leafs recalled goaltender Mark Owuya and reassigned him to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL; (ii) the Marlies returned defenseman Ray Macias to Reading; and (iii) the Boston Bruins recalled defenseman Ryan Button and reassigned him to the Providence Bruins.

In thirty-four games with the Royals, Shearer registered fifteen points (4g-11a) and ten penalty minutes. In two games with the Marlies in his most recent stint in the AHL, Macias did not register any points or penalty minutes.

The Royals return to action tomorrow (Friday, January 13, 2012 @ 7:05 pm) when the team will face the Elmira Jackals at the Sovereign Center in Reading. That night, the Royals will host a happy hour from 6:00 - 7:30 pm in 'The Corner' Bar and Restaurant inside the Sovereign Center. The game night broadcast next Friday will start at 6:35 pm with the Red Robin Gourmet Burger Pre-Game Warm-up Show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Reading.
