Royals Announce 2011 Training Camp Schedule

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals are pleased to announce the schedule for their upcoming 2011 Training Camp to take place at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. The camp will be split into three components, beginning with a three day Draft Camp, moving into a four day Rookie Camp and concluding with a three day Main Camp as part of preparations for the 2011-2012 WHL season.

The three camps will run from August 21st through August 31st, and will occur primarily at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. All on-ice sessions will be open to both the media and the general public with free admission. Fitness testing and all off-ice sessions are restricted to team personnel only.

The action kicks off with Draft Camp the morning of Sunday, August 21st, where all attendees will run through fitness testing before hitting the ice from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. On-ice sessions will continue through Tuesday, August 23rd from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Rookie Camp will follow, where participants will be divided into eight teams, with scrimmages beginning Thursday, August 25th and running through Sunday, August 28th, from 8:00 a.m. - 10:15 pm. Please see below for the full schedule.

Main Camp will begin the morning of Monday, August 29th. Three morning scrimmages will take place from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. followed by two evening scrimmages from 5:15 p.m. - 10:15 p.m. through to Tuesday, August 30th. Ice times for August 30th will take place at the Bear Mountain Arena.

Training Camp will conclude Wednesday, August 31st, with the Intra-Squad game, sponsored by the National Bank of Canada, set for 7:05 p.m. Admission to the game will be by donation, with all proceeds going towards Free the Children, the world's largest network of children helping children through education, with more than one million youth involved in innovative education and development programs in 45 countries.
