Reading Royals News Release
READING, PA- The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, and Rumba 1340 today jointly announced that complete coverage of the Royals' sixteenth season of 'Hometown Hockey' will be heard on the Rumba 1340 iHeartRadio digital stream.
Fans will be able to follow all Royals' broadcasts by simply tuning into Rumba 1340 via the free iHeartRadio app or logging onto www.Rumba1340.iheart.com and selecting "Royals Broadcast." The streaming audio broadcasts, which will include all of the Royals' 2016-17 regular season and playoff games, as well as the team's weekly coach's show, will also be directly linked to the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com.
As has been the case over the course of the team's history, the Royals' game night broadcasts will kick off with the pre-game warm-up show beginning thirty minutes before the opening face-off and conclude with a post-game wrap up after the completion of the on-ice action. The streaming audio options will also broadcast the team's weekly one-hour coach's show, Royals Radio Recon, on Tuesday nights from 6 to 7 pm. Royals' broadcaster, Mark Thompson, will continue to handle the game action play-by-play and host the weekly coach's show for the twelfth consecutive year with Pat Richards providing color commentary at home games for his fourteenth season.
"We're excited to be moving our broadcast presentation to the Rumba 1340 iHeartRadio stream," stated Royals' Team President Drew Bell. "We have been seeking for some time to upgrade our ability to allow our fans a full range of options to follow our games, particularly on mobile devices. This partnership with Rumba 1340 gives our fans a free and easy way to listen to our games and coach's show-wherever they may be-on their phones, tablets, computers, home entertainment devices, game consoles, and automobiles."
"Rumba 1340 is thrilled to be joining the Royals' team for this season's action," said Dan Lankford, President of the in the Allentown-Harrisburg Region for iHeartMedia. "Our stations are committed to bringing the very best in music and programming to the Greater Reading Region, and we see this partnership with the Royals as an opportunity to extend our involvement in the Reading community. In this regard, we look forward to working with the Royals in a wide variety of community-based activities, as we help fans follow the team on its quest to bring another championship to Reading."
