Roy Corcoran placed on disabled list

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Trappers Baseball Club announced today that right-handed pitcher Roy Corcoran has been placed on the seven-day disabled list with right elbow impingement syndrome. Corcoran is 0-1, 4.60 (15.2 IP - 8 ER) in nine appearances with the Trappers this season. Edmonton's roster currently stands at 23 players; 11 pitchers, two catchers, seven infielders and three outfielders, plus three players (Corcoran, right-hander Seung Song and infielder Henry Mateo) on the disabled list.

Corcoran, 24, began the season rated by Baseball America as the 27th-best prospect in the Montreal Expos farm system. He split the 2003 season, his third in the Expos system, between Single-A Brevard County, Double-A Harrisburg, Montreal and Edmonton, going 6-4, 1.23 (58.2 IP - 8 ER) with 15 saves in 44 appearances at the minor league level and 0-0, 1.23 (7.1 IP - 1 ER) in two outings with the Expos. Corcoran led Brevard County with 12 saves and 36 of his 44 minor league innings were scoreless. He was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent out of Louisiana State by Montreal on June 15, 2001 and has spent his entire career in the Expos system. Corcoran began the 2004 season with an 11-8 career record and a 2.73 ERA (158.0 IP - 48 ER) and 28 saves in 106 minor league appearances (one start).
