St. Cloud Rox News Release

ST CLOUD- The St. Cloud Rox earned their eighth straight victory with an 11-10, eleven inning win over the Waterloo Bucks in front of 1,607 fans at Joe Faber Field Thursday night. The victory, coupled with a Stingers victory over Mankato, keeps the Rox one-half game out of first place with three games remaining.

Waterloo led the game 7-0 until the Rox put a single run on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning. St. Cloud began its comeback with a four run fifth.

Phil Imholte (St. Cloud State) and Andy Henkemeyer (Minnesota) each had an RBI single to start the rally, followed by a Nick Tanielu (Washington State) two-run double to make the score 7-5.

Henkemeyer added another RBI single in the sixth, and the Rox tied the game in the seventh on an Erik Kozel (Colorado Mesa) triple that scored Tanielu. A three-run eighth inning gave the Rox an improbable 10-7 lead.

Carlos Lopez (Cal State-Fullerton) drew a four-pitch walk with the bases loaded to give the Rox their first lead of the game at 8-7. Boo Vazquez (Pittsburgh) contributed an RBI groundout and Kozel an RBI single to give the Rox a 10-7 lead heading into the ninth.

The Bucks tied the game with four walks and two hits in the top of the ninth inning, but in the end the Rox came out on top.

In the bottom of the eleventh inning with two outs, Henkemeyer got a base hit. Imholte and Jamie Simpson (Eastern Michigan) each drew walks to load the bases before Tanielu came through in the clutch with a base hit through the right side to give the Rox their eighth straight win.

St. Cloud is now 20-13 on the season and remain in second place in the North Division.

The Rox final home game is Friday night against Waterloo at 7:05 pm. It's Fan Appreciation Night at Joe Faber Field as well as Fireworks Friday, presented by HealthPartners Clinics. There will be giveaways throughout the game and the fireworks show is slated to be the most extravagant of the year.
